BIO


Kate Barraclough is a freelance book designer, with a love for type and photography.
    
She previously worked for Random House New Zealand before setting up freelance, allowing her the freedom to work in London, Melbourne and now Auckland. 

She has worked for a variety of clients across many book genres, from fiction covers to cookbooks, art books, gardening books, guide books, books about people, books about boats — in fact anything that comes packaged with a front and back cover. 

Her work has received a number of accolades, the most recent being the PANZ Young Designer of the Year award in 2013.



SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS

2014
Coast won the award for best Illustrated Non-fiction book at the New Zealand Post Book Awards

The Beginner's Guide to Hunting and Fishing in New Zealand won the award for best Children and Young Adults, Non-fiction in the New Zealand Post Book Awards

Bluebells Cakery was Highly Commended in the award for Best Cookbook in the PANZ Design Awards

Classic: The Revival of Classic Boating in New Zealand was shortlisted for the Mary Egan Award for Best Typography in the PANZ Design Awards

Both Wine Class and A Treasury of New Zealand Baking were shortlisted for the G.A Pindar & Son Award for Best Typography in the PANZ Design Awards
